Crave Book Review

I started this book on July 3, and I fell in love with the story and characters immediately!!! I’m a HUGE fan of vampires, so I quickly fell in love with this book. I heard about this book from a twilight facebook group. Crave is this century Twilight 2.0 and I love it cause I LOVE Twilight. I recommend reading this book, you might like it.

Sharp Objects Book Review

The book was really boring. The hype was a let down for me. Also, I felt bad for Camille and Amma The book was very disturbing, the stuff that kids were doing was just wow. The book was oversexualized, like thirteen years old were doing sexually stuff that I did not feel comfortable reading about. This book by Gillian Flynn was not my cup of tea. It also took a long time to get to the mystery. I would not recommend reading this book. 3 stars.

The Poet X Book Review

The Poet X was a powerful and emotional book that made me feel things. To be honest, I only read this book because my best friend fangirl about it and fall in love with it. Now, that I read it, I can understand why this is her favorite book by Elizabeth Acevedo. The poems in the book were powerful enough to make me relate to Xiomara. She is a fifteen year old girl who gets blamed for everything: for fighting, for defending her twin brother, for “making” him cry (even though she was only comforting him), questioning the world around her, and lastly her f*cking body. If guys touch or catcall her, it’s her fault for leading them into temptation, which I think is just so sexist for young girls to be taught that: it’s their/body fault for guys catcalling them (which is bull). Reading I felt soooo frustrated for Xiomara because no matter what she did, she kept getting blamed, her only escape was her poems, which she was not even allowed to do by her own religious mother (who i didn’t like AT ALL). Most of her troubles was with her mother, who was just too old-fashioned and religious. While reading what her mother was doing and blaming, I just kept thinking that if parents keep doing this to their kids, they are going to end up hating you (the parents) and surprise surprise, X hated her mother for doing a unforgivable thing. Also, her sorry excuse of a twin brother NEVER defend her against their mother. When the mother was blaming her for making him cry, when she was only comforting him, he stayed quiet. Being a bystander is just as bad. I would recommend reading this book, it’s really powerful. Elizabeth Acevedo is an excellent poet, I felt every line in the poem, it made me sympathize with the main character. 5★stars

The Giver Book Review

Years ago I saw the movie when it came out, however I did not know that the movie was based on a book. When I find out, I did not feel like reading the book cause the description of the book sounds boring to me, i don’t know…🤷🏾‍♀️😅. Anyway, The Giver was an interesting read, I really enjoy reading it! I’m glad that I finally decided to read it! I started the book yesterday; I was not expecting to finish the book so quickly. The Giver was really interesting that I wanted to keep reading on to find out more. I would recommend this book to anyone. I would also recommend the movie too. 5 stars 🙂

Monday’s Not Coming Book Review

Monday’s Not Coming was a chilly story. The moment I started reading, I was hooked, I started the book yesterday and finished today. The storyline was that interesting to hook me in. However, the timeline that Tiffany D. Jackson used was confusing. There was a “The Before”, “The After”, and “One Year Before The Before”. I had a hard time figuring out which one was Claudia’s past with Monday and which was the present where Monday is missing. At the end of the story, I really love the plot twist, I really did not see it coming. It was sad to read about Monday’s home life and also how no one noticed that she was missing, but people noticed when Claudia was out for an hour. But that is the difference between having people who love vs. people who really don’t care. Tiffany D. Jackson really shined a light on child abuse and can help when no one really cares/pay attention. I would recommend this book to anyone to read, they might like it. 5 stars 🙂

As Old As Time (Twisted Tales #2)

As Old as Time was a wonderful read. It was interesting a new cool different version of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast. I read this book is because my best friend told me how good they were, and the description sounded interesting enough for me to read it. I would recommend reading this book if you like fantasy, Disney, and different storytelling. 5 stars

The Goldfinch Book Review

I just want to say that I had high expectations because it felt like everyone was talking about this book and I saw the movie trailer, so I had to read it. But now I regret reading this book. Oh gosh!! Where do I start…? Ok, 1) I don’t understand this book won the Pulitzer Prize and 2) how everyone is giving this book 5 stars (5 STARS!!!) and 3) it was way way too long for my taste. I was not drawn in once I started reading The Goldfinch. Like way too long for my taste. The Goldfinch is 771 pages of randomness!!! After chapters 1 and 2, the story just kept dragging on and on, it was not going anywhere!! There were too many unnecessary sentences that Donna Tartt did not need to add in. For example:

“Free delivery and set up,” the television was saying. “Be sure and ask about our six months’ free financing.”

“Vegas 99, serving up the Eighties and Nineties,” said the fast, excited voice on the radio. “And here’s Pat Benatar coming up for you, in our Ladies of the Eighties Lapdance Lunch.”

The main character, Theo, was so annoying to me. Ok, honestly, all the characters were annoying to me that I would not feel bad if anything bad happened to them. In the first chapters, I felt bad for him, only because he lost his mom in a terrorist bombing at an art museum. Also, there was too much cursing for me. I have a limit of cursing that I can handle, this book went above mine limit. Donna Tartt seems like a well-written author, but she is just not my cup of tea. When she writes, she gave too many details. She told us (the readers), instead of showing us. The book was word diarrhea. I just wanted the book to end! 😣 I probably won’t ever read another book by her again. I would NOT recommend this book AT ALL!! Even though I won’t recommend it, you guys might like it or not, but you have been warned lol. 🤷🏾‍♀️ p.s. if you do read it, I suggest that you guys listen to it on a audio book, that is what I did. 1★star
